アクセス
高知自動車道南国ICから20分ほど走ったところにあります。
公共交通機関では、JR土讃線土佐山田駅からとさでん交通バスで20分です。
駐車場から歩いて3分ほどでチケット売り場につきます。さらに、階段を少し上がると、鍾乳洞入り口に着きます。

いざ入洞。
やや細めの通路を抜けると、、、
序盤からダイナミックな鍾乳石を見ることができます。
砂礫が堆積したその上に鍾乳石が成長し、砂礫が水流で流れると流礫棚ができます。意外と珍しい。
ところどころライトアップされています。
大小さまざまな美しい鍾乳石をたくさん見ることができ、飽きることはありません。

賛否が分かれるであろうイルミ、、、
薄いカーテンもみどころです。
壺に似た鍾乳石ではなく、土器の周りで鍾乳石が成長しているものです。弥生時代から、この鍾乳洞内で生活をしていたことが分かる貴重な史料です。
壺を使って再現実験も行っています。2018年の時点で81年目。

龍河洞は入り口と出口が異なります。
なだらかなスロープを下っていきます。道中は土佐名物刃物屋さんもあります。

珍鳥センターや龍河洞博物館も無料で見学できます。

日本三大鍾乳洞のひとつである、龍河洞。うまく表現できませんが、三大鍾乳洞の中では、安定して鍾乳洞のすばらしさを感じることができるところだと思います。落ち着いて見学することができ、後からじわじわくる感動が味わえると思います。
周辺にはお土産屋もそろっていますし、意外とおすすめなのは珍鳥センターです。
先ほど紹介したオナガドリをはじめ、コシャモ・サツマドリ・ウズラチャボなど、全国の天然記念物に指定されている鶏を中心に見ることができます。
三大鍾乳洞はもれなく一見の価値ありです。ふるこんぼいも、何度でも行きたい鍾乳洞です。
