アクセス
中国自動車道美弥東JCT郡萩道路へ、秋吉台ICから10分ほど走ったところにあります。
公共交通機関では、JR山陽本線新山口駅からバスで45分です。
周辺には市営駐車場や、お土産どころや食事処に隣接されている駐車場など、複数の有料駐車場があります。そこから歩いて平均約10分ほどで、チケット売り場につきます。 Cかず～ の到着時刻が遅いため、商店街は基本閉まっていますが、魅力的そうなお店が立ち並んでいます。
Cかず～ が行った2018年12月では、2018年7月31日～2019年3月31日までの期間で、「秋芳洞」と「大正洞」と「景清洞」の3つの鍾乳洞を1回ずつ、2,000円で見学できる周遊共通チケットが販売されていたので、そちらを購入しました。秋芳洞から大正洞までが車で約15分、秋芳洞から景清洞までが車で約20分程度の距離です。秋芳洞とは違った魅力がある鍾乳洞なので、断然お得なチケットだと思います。売っていたら是非セットで購入してみてください。
チケット売り場からほどなくして、鍾乳洞入り口があります。

いざ入洞。
入洞した瞬間から、他の観光鍾乳洞との明らかなスケールの違いに圧倒されます。
キャンペーン中？だったのか、チケット売り場で手首につけるサイリウムを頂いたので、着けて回りました。
美しいリムストーン。
表面がきらきら光っています。
圧倒的なスケールの違いに、何度も息をのみます。窒息寸前です。
ここから先は秋芳洞内の黒谷支洞と呼ばれる部分です。
鍾乳洞を出てから
基本、秋芳洞は入り口と出口が同じ場所なので、奥まで(3億年のタイムトンネル)行ったら洞内を折り返します。
帰路も見る角度が違うため、鍾乳洞の違った顔が見えたり、細かい見落としもあるため、飽きることはありません。
正確に言うと、入り口(出口)が3つあり、最もポピュラーな入り口が今回紹介している「正面入口」です。そのほかに、3億年のタイムトンネルの先が「黒谷入口」、洞内中盤にエレベーターが設置されている「エレベーター入口」があります。各入口に駐車場があるので、車を置いた場所によって入り口(出口)が異なります。

景清洞・大正洞とともに、秋吉台にある鍾乳洞で、3洞入洞割引チケットもあり、山口に行ったらぜひ立ち寄っていただきたい3洞です。
日本三大鍾乳洞のひとつである、秋芳洞。正直、残りの三大鍾乳洞である龍泉洞や龍河洞と比べても、圧倒的にスケールが違います。
鍾乳洞は、細く狭いイメージがあるかもしれません。ただ、観光鍾乳洞の中には、広くスケールが大きい鍾乳洞も多くあります。その中でも群を抜いてスケールが大きいです。一強といっても過言ではないと思います。また、ただ大きいだけではなく、特徴的なリムストーンやフローストーンも多く観ることができます。
イルミで魅せる観光鍾乳洞ではないので、「きれい～」と感じることは無いかもしれません。しかし秋芳洞は、そのようなイルミ鍾乳洞が好きだという人であっても、イルミで着飾る必要ないと思うはずです。
家族で～とか、カップルで～とか関係なく、日本人ならば一度は行ってほしい鍾乳洞です。 Cかず～ も、何度でも行きたい鍾乳洞です。
